Friends #1

When i first thought about creating this blog, i hadn't thought about its content.
But as days went by, i was clear on a topic; Friends. Friends are playing the biggest role in my life. So, a small tribute to each of them is more than essential.
I start with Nick, a guy that i met in university (actually the first person i met there). My first opinion? Hilarious, extrovert, easygoing, sensitive, smart with a great sense of humor. I was really happy to be a close friend of him. The more i knew him, the more i wanted to spend time with him (no sex, just friends!).
After 10 years of knowing him, we are still close friends (speaking every single day and still going out, sharing our points of view about trivial or serious matters-from politics to girls to football and career planning). We both want to change our lives, each one in different directions. I am sure that we are both going to succeed. He has been through big emotional disturbances, but i think that now he is on the go...
The M***cker is ringing the bell. Let's have one more drink on a Saturday night in the city of our heart.. Athens!

Winter in Athens? Never again

It’s almost December, but Athens is sunny, warm and beautiful. Yes, beautiful! I enjoy every single weekend, going out for a coffee in Plaka district at 12 in the morning and going back when the sun goes down. I admit that I like winter, but who doesn’t like sun on the other hand?? Why stay inside? How can you stay inside? Internet, reading, housework, all postponed for one reason: Sun! Actually, this is why I still live here.
Moreover, it’s nice that the city hasn’t yet been decorated. I mean the fucking Christmas decoration, I mean the stupid and boring and repetitive X-mast spirit (every single year we celebrate the birth of Jesus, Jesus!!!). I HATE CHRISTMAS. So, I don’t decorate the house, I don’t cook turkey, I only exchange present (this is the only good thing). But, New Years Eve is on the go and this is what I like. Every hope that this day brings, all the plans that you make, all the positive energy you transmit, in only one single day!
No plans for X-mast and New Years Eve, any ideas or invitations?? (hehe).

Exarheia

Exarheia is the only pure neighborhood that has been left in my city Athens. Going out tonight, i realized that this place has a character. Cosy bars, nice tabernas, nice food and alternative people. There you can find everything. Original anarchists, university students, old couples, weird people and small squares. One of them was to be a parking place, but the citizens didn't let this happen; they prevented it. Now, it's a square of happenings, like live small concerts, amateur graffiti and painting, art performances and people drinking beer or whatever... This is the so-called PURE city life. The cops are trying to make it a new getto, but they won't succeed it. The history of this place is so unique. Such places make me love this city. Such places tell me that this city is unique. There is no posh, no sic people, new bars open, old places are renovating, new people around, happy faces all over. Exarheia district is unique and i really like it! My best spot? Florar books+cofee. It is situated on the main square, at the so called 'blue appartment'.
Nobody can ruin the fame of this district. This is our west side story place. Police is around, but there is no safer place than this one.
Athens i love you, no matter strange you are...
But i still feel full of you...

The Comeback

Coming back from my last trip to Germany (mainly Berlin with a stop to wonderful Munich and small but lovely Weilheim, somewhere around Alpes) i decided to launch my blog. Working as an accountant for the last 3 years and having studied Finance & Accounting, zeroledger was a spontaneous title for this blog. For those who know me, makes sense. For the rest, they will understand as time goes by and new posts are published.
People say that travelling not only broadens your mind, makes you wiser, enrich your culture but also creates new horizons, new feelings and new goals for your life. I feel pretty lucky that i have had the chance to travel around Greece and Europe so far, alone or not, meeting new people, making strong relationships or even casual friendships. Interaction is the main goal. Give and take. We live in planet earth, which is so big but so small at the same time. We struggle to accomplish our own unique goals, sometimes without appreciating the simple things that life can offer.
For the last 10 years i live in Athens, a city of diversity, a city without quality of life, but so vivid. Having been to many different cities and countries, the comparison is inevitable; My last trip to Berlin was a trip to quality of Life. The city is unique. Huge but warm, so diverse, multicultural, with big parks, bike roads, etc. I saw happy people, modern people, people that feel really happy for living there. I could write for ages for this city. I met old friends, new lovers, i made new friends, i spoke with different people, from 15 to 85. Everybody has something to say. There is no stupid man, there is only bad communication. I think i avoided it.
Coming back my memories are still there. I already plan my next trip to Edinburgh, to Berlin again, to Morocco or somewhere else. But i also plan something bigger. A real movement. I love you Athens, but sometimes you are so small. So small for my taste.
That's it for today, i need to lie down my bed and dream about my near future. Time goes by and we have to be there, ready for the change. Ready for the next step. It's on us after all!
